The FIM Board of Directors has chosen to entrust the organisation of the FIM General Assembly and Gala to the Federació Motorcyclista d'Andorra (FMA) for two successive years.
Andorra is one of Europe’s smallest sovereign States and is bordered by France and Spain. The capital, Andorra la Vella, is the highest in Europe at 1 023 metres above sea level. It brings together a community with a lively and thriving cultural life, as reflected by theatrical performances and productions with great names from the world stage and a host of other prestigious events.
Affiliated to the FIM since 1987, the FMA has organised many rounds of the FIM Trial, SuperMoto and Enduro World Championships as well as the Trial des Nations. It is also a two-time winner of the FIM Environment Prize.
FIM CEO Ignacio Verneda welcomes this decision: “I am very happy to see the organisation of the FIM General Assembly and Gala entrusted to a very active federation such as the Federació Motociclista d'Andorra. It is great news for the FIM family and the motorcycling world. The FMA has some thirty years’ experience in organising sporting and cultural events at international level and is strongly committed to sustainable sport. Andorra offers us an exceptional natural setting and I am certain that these events will be a success!”
Josep Punti Tigel, President of the Federació Motociclista d'Andorra (FMA), also welcomes this announcement: “It is a great honour for my country and for me to be host to the FIM GA and Gala for the upcoming two years. Andorra is a small country situated in the Pyrenees, and tourism and business are our main sources of revenue. The organisation of international events on this scale is an ideal opportunity for us to help the largest possible number of people to discover our country. This project has come to fruition thanks to the economic support of the Municipal Council of Andorra la Vella, the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of Andorra (through Andorra Turisme) and the Crèdit Andorrà bank.
