2016 FIM ISDE Junior World Trophy
SUPER SWEDEN STEAL THE SHOW
Sweden held off a strong late push from the USA to take home the FIM International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) Junior World Trophy in 2016, keeping their nerve in the challenging and changeable conditions of Navarra, Spain. FIM Junior Enduro World Championship runner-up Albin Elowson (Husqvarna) followed up his strong finish to the individual season with team honours alongside compatriots Mikael Persson (Yamaha) and Jesper Borjesson (Husqvarna) to cap off a memorable year. Josep Garcia (Husqvarna) led a strong early challenge from Spain that included a victory on the second day, before a DNF for one of his team-mates on day three dropped them from second position to sixteenth and out of contention.
Meanwhile Sweden's second victory from the opening three days extended their lead to almost two minutes over the Americans, who closed to just 24 seconds with a stunning win on day four. Trevor Bollinger (Honda), Steward Baylor (KTM) and Grant Baylor (Yamaha) were then just three seconds behind the Swedish team on day five, setting up a tense finale. However, with each of their three team riders performing well in their respective final motocross races Sweden claimed the 2016 FIM Junior World Trophy by 45 seconds from the USA, with Italy completing the podium ahead of Finland and France.
