WADE-A-GO EDDIE!

Eddie Jay Wade (Husqvarna) proved to be the class act in a field of forty youngsters competing in Tartu, Estonia, at the FIM 85cc Junior Motocross World Championship, which he won with convincing victories in both motos. Like Gianluca Facchetti in the 125cc class, Wade left his rivals trailing in both races around the Lange Motokeskus circuit to become the youngest FIM champion of 2017 at the age of just thirteen.

The Spanish-born Brit, who began racing at the age of six in Murcian regional championships, took the holeshot in race 1 and led every lap to the finish, surviving a couple of near misses under pressure from Noel Nilsson (Husqvarna). Whilst Nilsson never quite looked close enough to make a pass for the lead, the Swede was comfortable in second and his compatriot Max Palsson (KTM) also gapped the rest of the field to secure a lonely third.

In Race 2 Wade was beaten on the start by Denmark's Magnus Smith (KTM) but he soon recovered to establish a lead that he controlled to the finish, sealing the title in style. Nilsson also made a bad start but proved he was the best of the rest with another second, whilst Dutchman Kay Karssemakers (Husqvarna) came out of a group battle with Smith, compatriot Kay de Wolf (KTM) and France's Florian Miot (Yamaha) to claim third in the race and in the championship.

Proudly representing the UK, Wade has emerged from Spanish regional motocross under the watchful eye of multiple national champion Paco Rico and is now surely set to blossom on the international stage.
