2024 FIM MOTO3 GRAND PRIX WORLD CHAMPION
Columbia’s David Alonso–CF Moto has dominated the 2024 FIM Moto3™World Championship to such an extent that the eighteen-year-oldhad clinched the crown by the time the series left Japan in early October with four rounds still remaining on the calendar.
Spanish-born, but with a Columbian mother, Alonso started his campaign with victory at the opening round in Qatar in March, but after losing the series lead at the next round in Portugal, he found himself playing catch-up–despite wins in the USA and France–until round six in Barcelona.
Victory in Spain–his fourth of the year–put him back on top and once he had regained the lead he simply refused to relinquish it and further wins in Italy, Germany, Austria, Italy again and then Indonesia, along with a second-placed finish in Great Britain, saw him head to Japan for round sixteen with acommanding ninety-seven-point advantage.
On a famous day at the Mobility Resort Motegi, with the title within his grasp, he started third and after briefly dropping back to seventh he began to charge to the front.
Taking the lead with four laps to go, his tenth victory of the season was rewarded with the Moto3™crown.
