2024 FIM MX2 MOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPION
Maintaining a presence inside theMX2 top ten ever since he made his FIM Motocross World Championship debut in 2021, twenty-year-old Kay de Wolf moved into the sport’selite following an impressive youth career.
Born and bred in Valkenswaard in the Netherlands, it is only natural that he excels in sand and it is a talent he wasted little time in demonstrating when he moved into FIM World Championship competition with his first podium coming at home at round four at Oss, followed by a race win at Lommel in Belgium.
A strong seventh in that debut season, he improved a position the following year–despite a hand injury sustained when he was hit by a car while cycling–and only missed out on an overall win at Lommel on a tie-break.
Missing four rounds in 2023 with another injury, he still finished sixth in the championship and at one point led after his first career GP win in Latvia.
Kicking his 2024 campaign off with victory in Argentina, he claimed the overall at the following two rounds to establish a lead he held all the way to the final round in Spain to take the title by twenty points.
