Very much a family sport, a passion for Motocross is often passed down through different generations and fourteen-year-old Levi Townley–Yamahais a rising talent who looks intent on following in his famous father’s footsteps.

If travelling fromNew Zealandto make his debut on European soil at the 2024 FIM 85cc Junior Motocross World Championship was not already high-pressured enough, Townley also had to live up to the reputation forged by his illustrious father, Ben, who made a similar journey over two decades ago and went on to win the 2004 FIM MX2 World Championship.

Adding to the challenge, the European ‘soil’ in question was actually the deep Dutchs and of Heerde ,but Townley demonstrated all the poise and pace of his father as he put in a stunning performance in mid-July.

Qualifying a strong second in his group behind Estonia’s Lucas Leok, himself a member of a famous Motocrossd ynasty, Townley drew first blood in an incredibly competitive class when he raced to victory in the opening moto by almost four-and-a-half seconds.

With the title on the line, he then put in a cool and collected performance in race two to clinch the crown with a fighting third.
