FIM 125cc Junior Motocross World Champion
Hungary is not a nation most people would automatically associate with Motocross, but if seventeen-year-old Noel Zanocz–Fantic, who this year raced to victory in the FIM 125cc Junior Motocross World Championship, has his way that could soon be about to change. Having first achieved recognition on a global stage in 2021 when he finished third in theFIM 85cc Junior Motocross World Championship, Zanocz travelled to Heerde in the Netherlands in mid-July on a mission to make his presence felt.
As a fan of sand he knew the surface would suit him and in the opening race, after working his way into an early lead, he left his rivals trailing and could even afford to ease his pace in the closing laps to conserve energy for race two, a mature tactic he would later be thankful for.
A poor start in the second and deciding race put Zanocz outside the top twenty and on the back foot immediately.
As he battled his way through from the rear of the pack, he could see his title rivals pulling clear and showing incredible resolve he passed his way up to second to claim his country’s first FIM Motocross World Championship crown.
